I am curious, just how much money can a blogger make from blogging?
We are living in an ever-changing world, and working 9 to 5 to provide for the family is no longer the only way. Many have found ways to make a living online and are now living the lifestyle they dream of.
Are you here because you want to know how much money can a blogger make from their blog? Or you are here because you want to know whether is it possible for you to make money blogging?
We are living in a digital era, where there are so many possibilities to make passive income or even extra money online from home. Opportunities to make passive income is getting more and more and many have found ways to do that online.
Before I have my own blog, I would love to go around reading different blogger’s income report every month end. Can I be honest with you? At that time, I really wondered whether all these income reports were real or not.
Nevertheless, I still started my journey to explore the world of Internet marketing even though I still have doubts. I tell myself it is better to do it and find it out myself than standing on the side thinking whether is it possible.
Success Has A Formula
I believe success has a formula. If I learn the formula, I will be able to mimic the method they have been using. Thus, I want to know how bloggers make money with their blogs. I researched and wrote this post: How to make money with a blog for beginners.
How Blogger Make Money With Their Blog
In “How to make money with a blog for beginners” posts, I outline how bloggers make money with their blogs based on 4 major ways:
- CPC (Cost per click advertisement) or CPM (Cost Per 1,000 impressions) ads
- Affiliate marketing
- Selling your own digital products
- Selling advertisements placed on your blog
Today I am going to go a step further by showing a real example of how bloggers do it based on these 4 ways I listed above. Hopefully, by the end of this post, you will be able to see the pattern and understand how bloggers make money, why you can do it, and why I decided to start mine too.
Without further ado…
Let’s Check Out Their Blogs!
All these blogs mentioned here are not in a particular order. Being first on the list does not mean that this niche is the most popular or making the most money. I just list it according to my research, that’s all.
Adventure In You
April Income Report: $15,174.00
About:
Adventure In You was started by Tom and Anna in 2015. Based on what is written on their blog:
After a few months of working hard, we quickly made our first $500 and then what happened next blew us away. It changed how we viewed making money.
By the end of our first year, our travel blog started to bring in $2000 a month. The year after, we started bringing in $5000, $8000 and soon after, we hit $10,000.
Let’s now find out how they monetize their blogs. Tom and Anna did a great job of breaking down how they make money and that made my job very easy.
Here is their April income report breakdown:
#1 CPM (Cost Per 1,000 impressions) ads
They are running a display advertisement on their blog through the Ad Network Mediavine. Do take note that to qualify for Mediavine, your blog needs to have at least 25k sessions per month.
For the month of April, Adventure In You has hit over 500,000 page views. These display ads help them to make $4,179.27.
2. Affiliate marketing
Adventure In You made an amazing $6,512.68 on affiliates in the month of April. What I am interested to know is what kind of products and services their audience purchased through their link.
These are the products and services that generate income for them in April:
- 12Go (Transport search engine in Asia)
- Agoda
- Amazon
- Booking.com
- Bluehost (Blog hosting provider)
- Convertkit (Auto-responder)
- Hostel World
- Liveaboard (Diving trips)
- Premier Tefl (TEFL qualification provider)
- Tailwind
- World Nomads (Travel insurance)
3. Selling your own digital products
They are selling their own digital products: Travel guide and their blogging course. Both products generated a total of $1,048.30 in April.
4. Selling advertisement place on your blog
Rather than selling advertisements placed on their blog, Adventure In You did Sponsor Posts and Brand Partnerships instead.
Sponsor posts and brand partnerships are another popular way bloggers used to monetize their blogs. They made $3,434.00 in total.
Add all up and they made $15,174.25 in April.
Although all this income is recorded as an income gain in April, that does not mean they already have the money in their bank the reason is affiliate networks take up to 90 days to pay.

While reading the M$M April income report, this advice jump up to me:
Just understand – blogging (or any online business for that matter) isn’t easy in any way or for the faint of heart, and definitely not something you should immediately quit your day job for. Most people quit blogging long before they actually “make it.”
