Many young people face difficulties accessing life-defining programmes like ours. We remove obstacles where we can. This is why no one pays for their place with us.

With no government funding, the generosity of our donors makes every opportunity we provide possible.

As a charity, we work with partners to open up opportunities for young people to discover remote and challenging parts of the world – places like Kyrgyzstan, Iceland, Georgia and more.

Is for all young people to be able to contribute confidently in the world. We want equal access to challenging learning and adventure in the wilderness as an unbeatable preparation for adult life.

OUR MISSION

Is to grow and celebrate a diverse, inclusive community of young people with the skills, resilience and determination to make lasting positive decisions in their own lives, and to deliver community benefit and positive environmental change.

OUR INCOME

We have no income-generating endowments, assets or investments.

We are reliant on the donations of generous individuals and organisations to make our transformative programmes a reality for our young people.

Every year we need to raise circa £1.2 million to continue our vital work.

The chart illustrates where our income comes from.

Our new short film

How do British Exploring Society expeditions help shape young people’s confidence, resilience, and sense of belonging – both in the wild and back home?

Filmed on location in each young person’s hometown, We Belong Here is an emotive documentary that charts the journey of four young people, a year after their adventures with us.

This film was produced with the kind support of the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation.
